Arabibus dicitur dama πλατύκερος, quam ex Alberto, qui multa ab Arabibus didicit, Gesnerus sic describit p. 306. de Animal. Est et sui generis Avicennae Algazal, quam Albertus damam nominat librô vigesimô secundô his verbis: Dama bestia est magnitudinis capreae, figurae et pili. Sicut cervus cornua habens, sed plana, longa et acuta. Est autem cursu velox, vitâ provida, cornupeta in adversas sibi bestias. Arabice vocatur Algazel. Atque istiusmodi animal Bochart. iudicat intelligi posse voce Hebr. Gap desc: Hebrew Reem vel Gap desc: Hebrew Rem, quam Monocerotem vulgo interpretantur; imo Reem speciem eius esse. Nam cum longa habeat cornua, merito dicere potuit David, in Psalmis, (92. v. 11.)
